Sinergy of extra-terrestrial particle accelerators and accelerators operated in the terrestrial atmosphere

Abstract We performed simulations of the EAS particle transport initiated by ultra-high-energy gamma rays entering terrestrial atmosphere. During thunderstorms, electric fields above LHAASO array efficiently modulate particles. Because this modulation, possible bias on energy estimation for primary energies up to 100 TeV can be ten-fold. Moreover, higher (≈1 PeV), field modulation enlarges “genuine” ray 2.5-3 times. This result is very important because observation PEVatrons based rather small statistics, and highest events occasionally coincide with thunderstorms. also demonstrate existence a threshold effect intracloud E-field strength needed trigger startup runaway process that exponentially multiplies free electrons strong atmospheric field.
